On June 2, during worship service, the Haiti Mission Team will give a presentation on their recent mission trip. Children’s Sunday is June 9, when our worship service will include a special program by the children. A church potluck picnic will follow at the foot of Silver Lake. Hamburgers and hotdogs provided, bring a [...] Beginning work on the new classroom Everything has gone really well. We have settled in and are having a great time. It is 95 and we are well taken care of. Looking forward to church tomorrow and work on Monday. Our Schedule for this trip had us in the small village of Marbial on Thursday, the day after our arrival. We have not been able to go there due to the height of the river we must travel up to get to the village. Before leaving for Haiti I had a number of folks inquire as to why we are going to Haiti and not taking care of our own people in the United States. Others suggested that [...] The picture is taken from my bed. I awoke to this beautiful scene and a slight breeze. Like many things in Haiti it was absolutely beautiful and I watched it for awhile thinking of the new day. As I lay there I began to hear people around me waking up- not just the [...] We have arrived safely in Haiti and have received many warm greetings. It has become very familiar to be here. While I mean that in the sense that our friends and surroundings have become “common place” I also mean it in the root sense of the word that we are among and with family. The [...] The Mountains Around Marbial, Haiti Put it on your calendars! Our next trip to Haiti will be from May 11th-20th. We will be working in the small village of Marbial. During the 2010 earthquake the school where 400 children studied was destroyed and a small orphanage was damaged. The school and orphanage are [...] Today we went back to the Bethesda church and school.
